Beginning in high school in Vancouver, Carl Elster developed his skills as an animator and photographer before moving into the world of motion pictures. After high school he moved to Toronto to follow his dream of being a filmmaker and attending university.
In 2004, he completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from York University in the Film and Video Programme. Carl has spent the past five years developing his skills as a writer, director, producer and cinematographer. He has worked in numerous production offices and on set for companies like Media Headquarters, YAP Films, AP, Capri Films, Insight Productions, and Indivisual Productions Inc., in both Toronto and Vancouver. He has produced several short films and shot numerous short documentaries, promotional videos, TV commercials and narratives.
Having completed his degree, Carl is eager to continue producing innovative and thought provoking work of all types. Currently he is developing a feature length documentary, producing another feature documentary and several short films. A feature length film with his producing partner, Hugh Gibson is also in the works.
